Blockchain Technology
On June 1st, Teachers In Space and Villanova University successfully integrated the Serenity satellite into the Firefly Aerospace Alpha2 rocket deployer. The rocket is presently scheduled to launch July 17, 2022.
The satellite houses an Ethereum private blockchain that Villanova will use to study the functional limits of blockchains in space, including the first-ever controlled study of radiation-induced errors on a blockchain network.
Use of blockchains in space allows immutable transactions of data between satellites, leveraging the power of constellations made up of independently owned satellites that do not necessarily trust one another.
Communication Theory
Over two years of lock-down, the world has conducted its greatest experiment of virtual communication. This experiment by circumstance has helped to answer the long standing question of the cost-benefits around virtual work, and the deeper effects of virtual communication on our interpersonal relationships. Investigations into virtual communication at Internet Think Tank since 2006 has led to the development of a novel Communication Map (a periodic table of communication, if you will) that identifies every communication situation in which human find themselves. These range from dyadic face to face conversations to party lines over virtual channels.
